My first site – monetization

If you have a personal website for fun and making money is maybe not on the first place. However, the world wide web is a wonderful thing – each website can be made to make money. It is up to you to decide how important you want to place the commercial part at. Making money on the web is quite easy–there are countless opportunities for any type of website and in any market niche.

The only difference between purely commercial websites and other projects where making money is not so important is search engine optimization or SEO. SEO starts with keyword research and can make a difference between success and failure. Targeting right keywords is essential if you would like to reach top positions in search results. And for commercial websites top positions is one of the prerequisites for success.

There are a few different approaches for website monetization. The best approach is to sell your own products or services. This will ensure that you will keep all the money from sales. Having own product is not so difficult as it may seem. Everybody is good in something. For example, if you do not have a product yet you can create an e-book about anything you know at the expert level.

The beauty of the internet is you can easily make money even if you have nothing to sell. You can either sell others’ products or display various ads. Both types of website monetization can make a lot of money but you need to find out what works best. Failures are pretty common and some testing is needed before you make a final decision on your monetization method.

Affiliate marketing is a common approach where you advertise products or services and earn a commission when you make a sale. This can be only 4% for common items like books or music but can be as high as 75% for software or e-books. There is a plethora of affiliate programs. For any market niche you can find products that can be advertised on the website. Even if you have a non-commercial website you can advertise some products that are related to the content of your pages. Few dollars that you will earn each month can be useful such as for paying the website hosting bill.

Another popular monetization method is Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising. You publish text and image ads and whenever visitors click on the ad you get paid. For each click you get only few cents (or dollars in some competitive niches), but when you sum all the cents together you can get some decent amount of money. The most popular PPC publishing program is Google AdSense. The beauty of this program is in the displayed ads -the ads will be matched to the contents of the pages!

Close up of a gray computer mouse

A typical example of monetization is the Top 10 Juicers website. Here you can find affiliate links for popular general purpose or wheat grass juicers and PPC ads. They can work together–in most cases AdSense ads will be related to the products on the page.

The importance of multiple sources of site monetization

Recently I tweaked my robots.txt file on one of my blogs and done accidentally a rule not to index all posts (duh, stupid me.) It was a mistake to simple and easy to solve, but over time that I discovered that what I did, Google already had run through it and a-indexed all my posts.

My traffic went down dramatically, almost immediately. I have a lot of organic (search engine) traffic for that blog and the decline of visitors quickly killed my AdSense earnings. This was about a week ago, and Google has not yet back to visit the new robots.txt file and re-index my post. this little error cost me more than 300 $/month, if it continues.

Fortunately, AdSense is not my only source of income for your site.Using multiple monetization techniques, that I keep receiving money, even if my PPC networks like AdSense isn’t bringing me anything.Specifically paid monthly text link and pay per post technical type’s all temporary naturally, because without the traffic, the price of text links will dwindle down, and so on. but the point is that I am able to handle a sudden loss of traffic in this way, as long as the problem has been corrected.

Google finally came back and all my posts indexed again, and earnings climbed with AdSense slowly until they had returned to normal.

This same principle applies to all types of monetization, not only of PPC. If you have a blog and the only income is from monthly text links, is its position just as high risk-how do I lose this source. What if the ad network that you use goes out of business? what if you get in disagreement with them and they cancel your account? revenue would be non-existent until found another source.

Moral of the story: Yes, you heard before, but not keep all your eggs in one basket when monetizing your website.

Monetizing website

What does however monetization?

Monetize your website by advertising and selling items or programs for a profit. This lets you make money from traffic to your site.

many people enjoy great success and make a living excellent to monetize their sites. There are a wide variety of ways to monetize your site, and we’ll go on only a few.

But before you begin, there are a few things you need to know.

1. it’s a good idea to wait until you have about thirty pages of content before you start to monetize your website. If you do not keep out up to that point (I know it’s tempting to go ahead and do it anyway) could be killing the future possibilities with search engines.

Because thirty pages of content?Because many directories will reject your site, if there is insufficient content when they see him. these directories contain back-links quality and credibility with the search engines.

Having these links from directories not necessarily directly will give your site traffic, but it is like a vote of confidence in the eyes of search engines, this translates into more traffic to your website.

Traffic translates into sales, so why jump the gun and try to monetize before you’re ready?

2. in order to monetize you need good content. You will need information-rich content, valuable for readers-and search engines.

If your readers like what you are doing, they will be much more likely to stick around-and stick around longer, the greater the chance that you have to monetize the website.

3. is not only important to have 30 pages of content, but also to have approximately 30 visitors per day consistent to your site.If you do not have a decent amount of traffic, there will be enough visitors to buy your stuff anyway. Then wait.

4. OK, so now you have your 30 pages of quality content, and a steady stream of visitors-you’re all set to start. We’ll go over some basic ways that you can monetize your website.

or affiliate programs. We already talked about, so I won’t go into it too much here yet.You sign up with an online merchant, place their add/link on your site, and each time a site visitor clicks through the merchant link and makes a purchase, you get a Commission.Amazon, eBay, e-books are all examples of affiliate programs.

or Clickbank. This is a kind of intermediary between an affiliate (you) and the merchant online. Clickbank takes care of order processing and invoicing. you select the products that you wish to sell on your site, and when the visitor makes a sale that passes through Clickbank.

Clickbank offers a variety of products for you to choose from, so that you can select products that fit with the topic of your website.

or Commission Junction.Another affiliate marketing network, you get to select the products you would like to sell on your site.

or Google AdSense. These are ads or text links that you place on your site through Google. you get paid if the text link or ad is clicked by the visitor. You have no control over what ads are displayed on your site. they are placed there by Google based on the contents of the site.

or Bidvertizer. just like Google AdSense. However, you can control what ads are displayed on your site and you have the option to accept or reject each individual ad.

This allows you to select ads that do not compete with the content of the site or other affiliate programs that could be used to monetize your site.

or Chitika. considered an e-mini Mall, the concept is similar to Bidvertizer and AdSense. product choices are slightly smaller, but you get to choose what you want to advertise on your site.

or network marketing. you can set the text or advertising links to a website to promote products, services or business opportunities. you can easily add a link to your primary business within the context of your Web site article.

or sell their own products … Maybe you’re going to sell their products or services too. you can design your ads to place in the pages of your site.

There is virtually end for ways to monetize your website. Check out some you’ve mentioned and research on your own.

Limit of heaven, so have fun with it …

Website monetization Tip-double underline for use in text ads

Distinction and Temptation

When working in text ads to monetize a Web site and gain PPC, use the double-underlined for ads on your site.Despite the temptation to short-term increase clickthrough, avoid hiding links in the text and use a separate format as the double-underlined. And I’m happy to elaborate.

Hooks-those links that allow you to get a balloon hover-are the key to monetizing your site with ads in the text. When the provider’s algorithm works well, selected keywords for hooks will be of interest to the reader and relevant to the content. when a reader is actually interested in term highlighted, you will hover over it with the mouse, consider the ad inside the bubble and if you want to know more-click. This is where the money is.

However, the player may also choose to click directly on the hook.Such a click direct also lead to the advertiser’s landing page and generate revenue per click. and here is the temptation: hooks for ads in the text can be formatted as regular links, with the format and appearance of other links on the page itself. When disguised as regular links, your readers can click on hooks without knowing that they lead to payment for content. For the short term, this leads to more clicks for page views (higher click through rate or CTR) and on a pay-per-click (PPC), when every click is paid for, the website generates higher revenues.

The catch

But there’s a catch block. This works only for the short term. The obvious explanation is that readers of the site will soon learn that not all links are regular and they will avoid clicking entirely or Protect them carefully with a hover. In this way, after the first increase in clicks, there will be a descent. I saw this happen in many websites. Now, I know that some publishers on the website is now smiling to themselves, thinking, well, I can’t get visitors repeated anyway, so at least I’ll get a paid-click off of them on one single visit.Sorry, but this is wrong as well.

The deeper reasoning behind this tip-to use the separate format for ad links-covers both repeated and new visitors. when a reader clicked on a link waiting to get to another related article but landed on the page an advertiser, you especially go instantly back (or just stops the window, whether it is a new window). A disguised ad is a break for reading, which is mainly ignored or even frowned. from advertiser’s point of view, this is the worst type of click.First, the advertiser paid to click, but does not get the attention you expect when the player simply left immediately the landing page And second ad. and even much worse, the visitor can also leave with a negative feeling towards the brand that has managed to fool you into clicking.

Loss of income and happiness

When they are not happy with the clicks that are charged for advertisers, that pull off the campaign from the website. This may occur in particular against a website that keeps sending visitors bouncing (these are the visitors who leave immediately); and if you think of smaller Web sites can hide under the radar, think again-automatic filters will give these websites scores low quality and block them as well.

Once advertisers pull their campaigns out a certain website, ads then get lower value of clicks, so that effective revenue (or the eCPM) drops. In fact, even the clickthrough rate decreases, as active campaigns become more general and ads to get much less relevant and interesting for readers.

If all this isn’t convincing enough, add to it the General frustration that your visitors get when they feel that they have been duped into clicking on an ad-this is the user experience for that had?And if we are already in matters of rhetoric, which formats-regular or double-underlined links-are more obvious and has the possibility to obtain your interest and click?

The Council: separate Format for ad Links

My suggestion is: use a separate format for ads in the text. When visitors recognize the hooks as a signal of an advertisement, they can easily ignore them and not be interrupted while reading. However, when the hook is interesting, knows that there is a bubble behind, they hover, who see the ad, and … they give their permission to actively get exposed to the advertiser’s content. These clicks with permission are very valuable to advertisers, and that will reward you with good feedback.Immediately after this positive feedback will be translated into higher value per click and end in more revenue. In professional terms, you may experience a lower CTR, but revenues eCPM and the bottom line will be higher. Furthermore, it will then be available for other purposes (as links related to the content), and, above all, will be improved overall user experience of your website. we are not all as visitors happy?

The added value of the double-underlined

One last thing. why double-underlined? this tip is to make a clear distinction between links in ad text, and other hyperlinks on the page. distinguished. any format will be double-underlined will do even better.

Using the double-underlined has an important added value. more and more people online acknowledges this format as the only to advertising in the text. all the advantages of making happy to get permission for clicks both visitors and advertisers are exploited using a common format that don’t annoy visitors and not distract their focus away from content. Recommend adherence to the standard of online communities-double-underlined is obvious.
